TalesFromRetail: WHO SAYS I CAN’T SHOP IN THE STOCKROOM???

sorry for formatting and lack of punctuation/caps, writing this in the EMPLOYEES ONLY bathroom in the EMPLOYEES ONLY stockroom.

5 seconds ago I walk into the fire hall of our back room. the place is huge, dimly lit, and chock full of pallets of boxes, tubs of stock with notes to employees, closed doors, cleaning equipment, giant forklifts etc

lady wandering around near the giant industrial freezers, having to squeeze her cart by flats of stock and cleaning crew carts of trash: Oh my god, are y’all resetting stock back here? It’s so crowded I can’t move!

me: … Ma’am this is the stockroom and an employees only area. I’m going to have to ask you to please leave, the is no purchaseable stock back here and guests aren’t allowed back here due to threat of injury because of the heavy machinery and heavy items on tall shelves.

lady: Excuse me?!? I didn’t see a sign!! Who says I can’t shop back here, I was just looking for pasta, I can’t find any!

me: Ma’am, it’s on x aisle in grocery. Please exit the backroom, guests are not allowed back here under any circumstances, it is against company policy, you could be seriously injured.

lady: WOW, YOU ARE SO RUDE. I JUST WANTED TO SHOP. NO, DONT BOTHER. I CAN FIND MY OWN WAY OUT.

Aaaand she knocked over a case of wine on her way out and bumped into a parked forklift. Thank god the wine didn’t break. Only 4 ½ hours left.
